1988年春天，李紅多次申請去美國，但次次碰壁，說
她太漂亮，而且是單身。於是李紅嫁了教書的周南生
，生了一個孩子，終於拿到了一個簽証。剛到美國，
她不時寫信，說不回家，南生叫她千萬不要回來，受
不住也得挺下去，信越來越少，終於，南生收到一封
信，要他立即辦理離婚。
1989年春天，南生偷渡到紐約找尋小紅，他用完了最
後一分錢，更被朋友趕出門外，連一雙破皮鞋，他給
流浪漢搶走，但是他仍不停的找。
