| Healing Hearts (2000)
俠骨仁心
Director: Gary Tang Tak
Hey
Starring: Tony
Leung, Michelle Reis
"Healing Hearts" is a heart-warming and touching
story of 3 friends. Paul (Kenny Bee) has not given up hope on his
girlfriend Jackie (Michelle Reis) who is in a comatose state due to a
failed suicide. Dr. Lawrence, a brain surgeon (Tony Leung), however
finds himself gradually drawn to Jackie when she awakes from her coma
even though he knows of Paul's continued love for his girlfriend.
Somehow, through as series of coincidences, she
ends up staying at Lawrence's apartment and they find themselves slowly
being drawn to each other despite Lawrence's initial misgivings over the
whole relationship because of Paul's lingering affection for Jackie.
The light-hearted bantering between Leung and Reis
resulted in some rib-tickling humor that connects well with the
audience. Tony Leung, as usual, puts in a commendable performance, with
his dry, sarcastic wit and humor giving life to his Dr. Lawrence
character. Michelle Reis isn't bad either, with her innocent, vulnerable
character shining through here.
