“The Longest Nite” probably tops all Hong Kong
films in presenting triad warfare intrigue. A clever interlocking plot
complete with tense and heart-stopping atmospherics.
Two triad leaders vie for the right to manage a
string of casinos in Macau which sparks an exhausting battle. A twist of
fate brings the two gangster bosses together in collaboration, but
rumors have it otherwise. A murderous plot unfolds...
In Macau there are two major crime families who
have been at war for many years now. Rumors are spreading that they
might be signing a treaty so that they can control the city together.
Shortly after a contract is put out on Mr. Lung, the leader of one of
the families. Mr. K, leader of the other family, gives the task of
finding the assassin to a crooked police officer. His first suspect is a
newcomer to Macau. The events that follow make the crooked cop look
guilty but he tries to frame the newcomer.
