內容：
清末民初的老北京有座倒閉的德聚全飯莊，新掌柜楊明全盤下了這個店，並將德聚全改為全聚德，這就是日後聞名中外的全聚德燒烤鴨店。楊掌柜用重金聘請名廚師孫鐵杆和吳一勺，一改以往的悶爐烤鴨，獨創出外焦裡嫩的掛爐烤鴨，全聚德的生意從此興盛起來。

可是楊掌柜的生意做得很艱辛，店內有伙計們之間的內訌爭鬥，店內有惡少、地痞及官警勢力的欺壓搗亂，在感情上楊明全也陷入痛苦矛盾之中。
